Baked Pears

Twelve baked pear halves with their own basting liquor; rum, Cognac or kirsch is an optional historic variation.

Method

Steps

  1. Step 1

Wipe and wash six medium winter pears, cut each lengthwise into halves and remove the cores.

  2. Step 2

Place twelve halves on a baking tin with about 60 mL cold water and one teaspoon butter. Dredge two tablespoons granulated sugar over them. If choosing the optional historic variation, add a source pony of rum, Cognac or Swiss kirsch to the water without pretending a fixed converted volume.

  3. Step 3

Bake in a hot oven for the printed 30-minute guide or until soft, basting frequently with pan liquor. Arrange on a hot dish, pour over the remaining juice and serve.
