Baked Sausages with Apples

Fresh pork sausages baked over thinly sliced apples with butter, white wine and white pepper.

Method

Steps

  1. Step 1

For a modern working oven setting, preheat to 375°F. Lightly butter an ovenproof earthenware baking dish. Peel, halve and core six medium apples, slice them very thinly and spread them in the dish.

  2. Step 2

Lightly prick twelve fresh raw pork sausages without strings and lay them over the apples. Season with half a teaspoon of salt and two saltspoons of white pepper. Divide half an ounce of butter in small bits over the sausages and pour two tablespoons of white wine over them.

  3. Step 3

Bake for about thirty-five minutes, continuing as needed until the apples are tender and every sausage reaches 160°F in the centre, checked with a food thermometer. Serve hot in the same dish.
